Quran & Tajweed

A fundamental requirement for a Muslim child is to become acquainted with the Book of Allah, the Quran. At Tayyibun Madrashah, we endeavour to take each child by their hand through the journey of learning how to correctly read the Quran.

We have developed a structured programme with ten levels to ensure progression within the curriculum. Our focus is to teach young children the correct recitation of the Quran with Tajweed, as well as encourage its memorisation.

Arabic Language

The Quran is in the Arabic language and therefore learning it the will help us understand the Quran when reading it. It is advantageous to become familiar with the language at a young age. We have carefully designed a structured syllabus to teach Arabic in a non Arabic-speaking environment to learners from a broad age range.

Our Arabic syllabus aims for students to progress in building up their knowledge of Arabic vocabulary and grammar and to put into practice the skills they have acquired through written exercises, spoken passages of dialogue and comprehension exercises.

Islamic Studies

At Tayyibun we strongly believe in providing the platform for children to develop their character. Whilst the nurturing of a child should primarily begin at home, we aim to provide a supporting role to families and reinforce good values and good character.

We hope to inculcate the love of Islam within children, have tolerance and respect for people, enjoin righteousness and peace and uphold justice.

The curriculum incorporates modules in creed (belief in the pillars of iman), worship (purification, zakah, prayer, fasting, hajj) and character (manners & etiquette and studies relating to interactions, dealings and personal development). These modules are taught over eight age-appropriate levels.

Qur’an Level 1
This course is for our younger learners who wish to take their first step into learning to read the Quran. Using fun and exciting game-play, students will be introduced to the Arabic alphabet and the basic vowels so they may be able to recognise letters in their different forms, learn about the naughty letters, and learn the alphabet with the correct pronunciation and from where their sounds emanate (Makhraj). Our young learners will then progress onto joining the alphabets to form basic words.

Qur’an Level 2
In this level students will learn the Arabic alphabet and vowels and then progress onto joining them to read words and sentences. We follow a nice oral spelling pattern, which will help your child learn to read quickly Inshaa Allah. Qa’idah Baghdadiyyah is packed with words to practice reading; examples have been mainly taken from the Qur’an. In addition to this the Qa’idah is printed in accordance to the Uthmani script thus making it easier for your child to progress onto reading the Qur’an. In this level students will be taught the etiquettes and manners pertaining to reading and reciting the Qur’an as we as being introduced on to basic rules of Tajweeed such as Madd (elongation) and Sifaat (characteristics) of the letters.

Qur’an Level 4
This level is suitable for students who can read the Qur’an but have not formally studied all of the rules of Tajweed. In this level, students will learn the correct pronunciation of the letters and the rules of Tajweed through the medium of selected passages of the Qur’an.

Building on the rules previously learnt, students will learn the pronunciation (Makhraj), the heavy (Tafkheem) and light (Tarqeeq) letters, the vibrating letters (Qalqalah) and the rules relating to Noon As Saakinah, Meem As Saakinah and Raa. Students will be given ample opportunity to practice applying these rules during class.

After the successful completion of this level students will be advised to enrol onto our Hifdh School.

Qur’anic Memorisation

Facilitating the memorisation of the Quran for children is one the most beneficial and rewarding deed for parents.

The Prophet (saw) said: “The one who recites the Quran and acts upon it, on the Day of Qiyamah his parents will be made to wear a crown whose light is better than the light of the sun had it been in the dwellings of the world, so what do you think (of the reward) of the person himself.” [Abu Dawud]

Our Hifdh programme provides a platform for parents and their children to work together to achieve their aims. Each student is guided to memorise according to his ability and provided individualised targets.
